Before Bill Callahan was a solo artist, singing wise songs about birds, he was Smog. And Smog was something else. Something primal, and personal, and sad. This song gets me something fierce.

You know he dated Cat Power while he was Smog? Thought that might tickle you. Then there’s the un-credited female backing vocal on this track. I don’t think it’s her, some internet sleuthing uncovered a number of female vocalists credited on Smog songs (Joanna Newsome?!). And yet, for this one, no credit. Could it be her? Well, no, still probably not.
